Happy New Year one and all, Nice to see the days growing longer. Who’s started looking at the seed catalogues? The Christmas Lunch went very well with 70 soup lunchers having some festive fun and a sing-a-long with Garry Winter and even me killing “White Christmas” (The Devil made me do it!) What about the Bollywood Night then, Jibu and his wife Shilu certainly gave us a great night, they put so much hard work into it. Thank you both.  I would also like to thank all of you who wrote to us showing your support for our Lottery application for the sewerage connection so very encouraging.  Hopefully, we will have a better result with the new application.

As you know, I shall not be doing any more big catering events as I have to admit to being beaten by the years. I and the team will be continuing with the Soup Lunches until April. Home cooks, we need volunteers for next season, just the same as cooking at home the only difference is that we use bigger pots! Happy to give any guidance to a new team.

Normally we would have had the Village Hall Management Committee AGM in January but as there is no Parishioner for December & January we felt it better to postpone it until March so, a date for your diary, Broome village Hall AGM  7 for 7.30 pm on 12th March 2020 The current management team are all retiring, time to step aside for new ideas and a new team to move the hall forward. We need a Chairman, treasurer and secretary. Plus 5 committee members, ideally from the various organisations that use the hall.  Please consider joining the team and let me know if you would like me to put your name forward or if you want to know more.

The next meeting of C.A.M.E.O. Club will be on Friday 28th February 2020 in Broome Village Hall from 2pm to 4pm. All are welcome. Join us for tea, coffee and homemade cakes, maybe have some fun with a game, borrow a book or DVD or just have a chat. The cost is just £1 including refreshments.

From all at the C.A.M.E.O. Team

The Border Villages Community Group coffee mornings are held on the 1st Wednesday of each month from 1030 – 1200 at Broome Village hall.

Our aim is to encourage residents, friends and neighbours to meet up once a month to enjoy the great community spirit, have a tea/coffee, a chat, a fun quiz and a raffle. All are welcome. Entrance is only 50p per person. (Remember, this is for everyone, all ages. C’mon get out for an hour or so).

A belated Happy New Year to everyone. Our coffee morning in December although slightly down on numbers was fantastic. We had the Rumpus Ukelele band playing some fantastic music and was thoroughly enjoyed by all and money raised throughout the year enabled us to donate £100 to their designated charity CLIC (Children Living With Cancer). Extra money was collected at the door by way of donations of loose change, we raised £26.06 and Rumpus Ukelele asked us to donate it to a charity of our choice, this was donated to the EACH charity (East Anglian Children’s Hospice) on your behalf. So a big thank you to you all.

January’s coffee morning, which we held a week later than usual, saw the new year in with some bingo and the usual raffle. We’re back on track now, 1st Wednesday of the month and February 5th is the next coffee morning and will include a quiz. We look forward to seeing you all and bring a neighbour along. The BVCG Team
