Well, now it feels like the end of another season as we approach our summer period. We will have held our last Soup Lunch until September and also of course the Hot Cross Buns on Good Friday.
I have to say that although I have had great pleasure cooking for all the events that we have held, the time has come for me to say “Enough”.
I have found that I’m fine whilst actually cooking and the adrenalin is pumping, but, it takes me far too long to recover, so.
Situation Vacant, Occasional Cook /Chef to take on Broome Village Hall, No age limit, no pay. Training can be given, we don’t shout and I would love to pass on my knowledge.
What’s it involve? We do the Soup lunches once a month from September to April, We usually share the soup making and the cakes. For the last 7 or eight years we have put on entertainment evenings during the winter, for instance, Christmas Cabaret Nights , Winter Warmers and of course the Curry & Quiz Nights. It would be such a shame to see it all end.
Perhaps if that sounds a bit daunting how about two or three of you getting together, I know there are some fantastic home cooks out there, I just use bigger pots!
In all seriousness we really do need volunteers to keep up the traditions of Broome Village Hall, we are a small fun loving group and none of us are “precious” (well perhaps me) and we have possibly the best kitchen & equipment to work with.
Enjoy your summer and enjoy the sound of something cool and tinkling in your glass,
There will be a meeting of C.A.M.E.O. Club on Friday 28th June from 2.00pm to 4.00pm in Broome Village Hall. All are welcome.
Join us for tea, coffee and homemade cakes, maybe have some fun with a game of cards, scrabble or dominoes or just have a chat and meet people. We have a selection of books to borrow. The cost is just £1 including refreshments.
Hope to see you there.

BORDER VILLAGES COMMUNITY GROUP
The Border Villages Community Group coffee mornings are held on the 1st Wednesday of each month from 1030 – 1200 at Broome Village hall.
Our aim is to encourage residents, friends and neighbours to meet up once a month to enjoy the great community spirit, have a tea/coffee, a chat, a fun quiz and a raffle. All are welcome. Entrance is only 50p per person.
We also run a helpline if you need a lift to the doctors/hospital/local shop/collection of prescription and you have no other way of getting there, then we may be able to help. We have a small number of volunteers who, if available, might be able to give you a lift.
The helpline number is 07928 226603
April’s coffee morning was Easter egg themed. We held bingo and the lines and full houses won Easter eggs (slightly increasing in size as we went along). We also held an Easter bonnet competition with one outstanding winner who won an small Easter basket.
May’s coffee morning will be held on the 1st May and will this month will be a fun quiz.
So come along, have a chat, tea or coffee and some biscuits and join in. See you there.

BROOME 100 CLUB NEWS
It was a great pleasure for Vicky and I to attend Broome AGM to present two cheques – Broome Village Hall, and Broome Play Park, each receiving £600 from the 2018/9 which were gratefully received by the committee.
We were able to sell all 100 numbers this year, and we would like to thank everyone for their continued support.
I would also like to thank Fred for this overwhelming contribution of baking 650 Hot Cross Buns. Our village and community are extremely fortunate ~ Thank you Fred!
