The end of an era,

The Village hall is now up and running again after all the trials and tribulations of the last 18 months or so. There are still some of our previous user-groups who are not quite ready to return but they will, rest assured. But that means meantime, there are plenty of time slots that can be booked throughout the week if anyone wishes to use the hall. See our booking conditions on the website above.

I have mentioned that there has been an end of an era, this because the last management team have finally hung up their keys and retired. They have run this hall for the last 12 years or so and some of them longer than that. If I can highlight just two of them, Fred Hartwell(Chair) and Hazel Middlemiss (Treasurer) without whom the hall would have closed years ago. They have put their heart and soul into keeping this hall running, installing a state of the art catering area, connecting to the mains sewer, decorating inside and out, to name but a few of the things they have done not to mention all of the fundraising events that have taken place over the years in order to pay for the upkeep of the hall.

We thank them and salute them, I only hope that we can live up to their example as the new team.

So, it’s steady as she goes at the moment, we will keep the hall running as it is, encouraging more bookings and when we are confident that we can manage perhaps the odd event as a village hall committee, then we will let you all know. Our aim is to always benefit the village hall and the community that it serves.

Colin Rafferty
Chair Village Hall Management Committee.

Well, you lot never cease to surprise us, the October Coffee Morning is always dedicated to MacMillan Cancer Support and after the strains of the last 18months or so, one would be forgiven if the amount donated was a little below par. You have done this community proud, as I write we have so far collected £413:91, a truly magnificent amount, we thank you so much.

So November’s coffee morning, Broome village hall, 3rd Nov, 1030 -1200 hours.
All the usual stuff, coffee/tea/biccy, a chat, a quiz and a raffle, all for 50p.

Everyone is welcome, bring a friend. If you have just moved into the area, come along as it’s a great way to get to know people.

We’ll see you there.
